Clinical versus Website Data

Please note that this policy applies to your interaction with our website. Clinical records collected during therapy sessions are subject to stricter confidentiality standards governed by the College of Alberta Psychologists and the Health Information Act, detailed in our separate ‘Informed Consent for Services’ form.

Information We Collect Automatically (Cookies & Tracking)

We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors engage with our site. This tool collects anonymous data such as your IP address, browser type, and pages visited. It does not identify you personally.

Our website may use the Meta Pixel to measure the effectiveness of our advertising. This allows us to see broad patterns (e.g., how many users booked an appointment after seeing an ad) without accessing your personal health details.

Third-Party Tools & Booking Systems

We use Jane App to manage bookings. When you schedule an appointment, your data is processed securely by this third-party provider in compliance with Canadian health data standards. We do not store credit card or health intake forms directly on this website server.

Digital Analytics, Advertising, & Online Booking

To improve our services and ensure our community can find us, we use selected third-party tools to measure website activity and manage appointment bookings. This section explains how data flows between our website and our partners.

1. Appointment Booking (Jane App) We use Jane App, a compliant practice management software, to host our online booking system. When you click “Book Now” or similar links, you will be directed to our secure booking portal (hosted on janeapp.com).

    • Data Security: Jane App is fully compliant with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and the Health Information Act (HIA).

    • Clinical Privacy: Information you enter directly into Jane App (such as intake forms, specific health concerns, or credit card details) is encrypted and stored securely by Jane App. This clinical data is never shared with Google, Meta, or any advertising partners.

2. Analytics & Ad Attribution (Google & Meta) We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) and tracking technologies from Google Ads and Meta (Facebook/Instagram) to measure the effectiveness of our outreach.

    • Cross-Domain Measurement: We utilize “cross-domain tracking” to understand user journeys. This means if you click an ad on Google or Facebook and subsequently book an appointment in Jane App, these tools can count that as a successful “booking event.”

    • Anonymity: This tracking relies on anonymous signals (cookies) to count the number of appointments generated by our ads. It does not transmit your name, specific diagnosis, or personal health information to advertising platforms. We use this data strictly to understand which ads are helpful, not to profile your health history.

3. Your Control You may adjust your browser settings to disable cookies if desired.

Consent & Withdrawal

By using our website, you consent to the collection of non-clinical data (cookies). You may withdraw this consent at any time by adjusting your browser settings or using the ‘Cookie Preferences’ link in our footer.

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

Embedded Content From Other Websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act

This website is directed to adults; it is not directed to children under the age of 13. We operate our site in compliance with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act, and will not knowingly collect or use personal information from anyone under 13 years of age.
