About Aleksandra

Aleksandra is a Registered Provisional Psychologist who works with adults, adolescents, and families in Edmonton and across Alberta. She offers a collaborative, non-judgmental counselling environment where clients can explore emotional experiences, relationship dynamics, and life challenges at a pace that feels appropriate to them.

Aleksandra’s lived experience of displacement and resettlement has shaped her understanding of uncertainty, change, and loss. Having lived in multiple countries before immigrating to Canada, and having worked in high-stress environments, she brings a thoughtful and grounded perspective to counselling that values compassion, curiosity, and understanding.

Her work is informed by evidence-informed counselling approaches, including CBT, DBT, and EMDR-informed frameworks. These approaches may be used to support exploration of patterns, emotional responses, and past or present experiences within counselling sessions.

Therapeutic Approach

Aleksandra’s approach is collaborative and client-centred. She works alongside clients to explore experiences, strengths, and perspectives that feel most relevant to their current concerns. Counselling sessions are guided by curiosity rather than judgment, with an emphasis on understanding experiences rather than assigning blame.

She tailors her work to each individual or family, drawing from evidence-informed approaches while respecting personal values, goals, and cultural context. The pace and focus of counselling are shaped collaboratively and reviewed over time.

Philosophy & Values

Aleksandra values counselling relationships that are grounded in safety, respect, and openness. She views counselling as a shared process of reflection and understanding, where clients are supported in exploring their experiences and making sense of challenges in ways that feel meaningful to them.

Rather than focusing on eliminating pain or difficulty, Aleksandra’s work emphasizes awareness, self-compassion, and understanding how experiences shape thoughts, emotions, and relationships. She believes that feeling heard and understood can create space for insight and new perspectives to emerge.

“Judgment or blaming is not the point. Understanding is.”

What to expect

In the first session, clients are invited to share what brings them to counselling and what they hope to explore. Aleksandra will explain how she works, answer questions, and discuss confidentiality, boundaries, and next steps. This session is also an opportunity for clients to consider whether her counselling approach feels like a good fit.

Counselling sessions are collaborative and flexible, with regular opportunities to reflect on what feels helpful and adjust the focus as needed.

Aleksandra aims to create a safe space for growth and healing where clients feel heard, supported, and understood. Her goal is for clients to feel validated, empowered, and in control while building confidence in themselves and finding motivation to make meaningful changes.

Beyond therapy

Outside of her work, Aleksandra values connection, reflection, and balance. She finds grounding in nature, quiet moments of rest, and meaningful time with loved ones. These practices help her bring presence, warmth, and renewed energy to her work with clients.
