About Jen
Jen Stock is a Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC) with a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology and years of experience working with children, adolescents, adults, and families. She is drawn to this work through a deep belief in the power of caring for one’s own wellbeing and the meaningful ripple effect that has on every aspect of life and every relationship we hold.
Jen is particularly passionate about family dynamics, relationships, and self-esteem, and is endlessly curious about why we connect the way we do and how our nervous systems shape the bonds we form. Whether she is working with a child navigating anxiety, a parent feeling stuck, or an adult processing years of accumulated stress, she brings genuine warmth, attentiveness, and a nurturing presence to every session.
Therapeutic Approach
Jen works from a person-centred, trauma-informed, and attachment-based lens, with particular attention to how the nervous system influences emotional regulation, relationships, and quality of life. She draws from a range of evidence-informed approaches including somatic therapy, polyvagal-informed practice, DBT, compassion-focused therapy, solution-focused brief therapy, and play therapy, integrating practical strategies, reflective work, and self-care into sessions in a way that fits each client’s needs and goals.
For younger clients, she incorporates play as a therapeutic tool, meeting children in the language that comes most naturally to them. For adults, she balances structure and exploration depending on what the client needs most in any given session.
Philosophy & Values
Jen is guided by kindness as a core value, and by the belief that trying something new can feel scary, but that caring for your own wellbeing is one of the most important things you can do for yourself and for the people in your life. She approaches every session with the curiosity and non-judgment that she hopes her clients will begin to extend to themselves over time.
She views the therapeutic relationship as the foundation of meaningful change, and focuses first and foremost on creating a space where clients feel genuinely connected, seen, and safe enough to open up.

What to expect
In a first session, Jen begins by getting to know you and what has brought you to counselling. She will ask some questions to better understand your background, life experiences, and what you are hoping to get out of therapy. The session is collaborative and focused on ensuring you feel safe and comfortable throughout, with no pressure to share more than you are ready for. By the end, you will have a clearer sense of how Jen works and a beginning sense of the direction your work together might take.
Beyond therapy
Outside of the therapy room, Jen recharges by spending time outdoors, reading, moving her body, and enjoying time with her dog and two cats. She also has a deep love for music and live concerts, and finds that staying connected to play and the things that bring her joy makes her a better therapist.
