About Samantha
Samantha is a Canadian Certified Counsellor with a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University and a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from MacEwan University. She brings a trauma-informed, client-centered approach to her practice, integrating modalities such as CBT, somatic techniques, mindfulness, and narrative therapy to support teens and adults in navigating life transitions, trauma, anxiety, and relationship challenges.
Samantha was inspired to become a therapist through a combination of personal values and professional experiences that kept bringing her back to supporting people in meaningful ways.
Experience & Background
In her earlier roles—whether working with youth, adults, or in community-based settings—she naturally stepped into the supportive, grounding presence for others. People tended to open up to her easily, and she found that she genuinely enjoyed helping them make sense of their experiences.
Her academic journey also fueled that inspiration. Completing her MA in Counselling Psychology solidified her passion for therapeutic work, especially approaches rooted in trauma-informed practice, attachment, and nervous-system-based work. She’s drawn to the process of helping clients understand themselves, build coping skills, and reconnect with their strengths.
Therapeutic Approach
Samantha’s approach to therapy is grounded in trauma-informed, client-centered practice. She focuses on creating a calm, safe, and collaborative space where clients can explore their experiences at their own pace. She integrates nervous-system regulation, attachment-based work, and practical coping strategies to help clients build insight, resilience, and self-trust. She meets clients where they’re at, honouring their lived experience while empowering them to move toward meaningful change.
Samantha personalizes therapy by meeting each client where they are, taking into account their unique experiences, strengths, goals, and cultural background. She integrates different modalities and techniques, such as trauma-informed approaches, mindfulness, CBT, and somatic strategies, based on what resonates with the client. She collaboratively sets goals, checks in frequently about what’s working, and adapts her approach as their needs and insights evolve. This ensures that therapy is relevant, practical, and meaningful for each individual.
Philosophy & Values
Samantha is guided by the principle that therapy should be collaborative, safe, and nonjudgmental, allowing clients to explore their experiences at their own pace. She also believes in the importance of trauma-informed care, cultural humility, and honouring each person’s lived experience. Her work is grounded in the conviction that with insight, practical coping strategies, and supportive guidance, clients can build resilience, self-trust, and meaningful change in their lives.
Healing, to Samantha, is about gently reconnecting with oneself and finding peace amidst life’s challenges. It’s a process of regaining a sense of safety, self-compassion, and emotional balance, while honouring one’s past experiences and personal journey. Healing allows clients to move forward with resilience, clarity, and a deeper connection to their values and what truly matters to them.
Samantha is most passionate about helping clients build insight and resilience, particularly when navigating trauma, life transitions, or complex emotional challenges. She loves supporting people in finding their own strengths, discovering coping strategies that truly work for them, and experiencing breakthroughs that improve their daily lives. She’s also deeply motivated by the relational aspect of therapy—creating a safe, authentic space where clients feel understood, grounded, and empowered to make meaningful changes.

"I often think of the idea that healing is not linear. Growth involves patience, self-compassion, and embracing both the challenges and small victories along the way.
As the saying goes, Every step forward, no matter how small, is progress. Each step, no matter how small, contributes to building resilience, insight, and a deeper connection with oneself."
Beyond therapy
Outside of work, Samantha feels most grounded when she’s outdoors—whether she’s hiking, spending time with her dog, or simply enjoying nature. Movement, time with loved ones, and being in calm, natural spaces help her recharge and stay balanced so she can show up fully for her clients.
What to expect
In the first session, clients can expect a warm, safe, and nonjudgmental environment where they get to know each other and begin to explore their goals, concerns, and experiences. Samantha focuses on building rapport, understanding their unique needs, and collaboratively identifying priorities for therapy. Clients can also expect clear explanations about the therapy process, confidentiality, and next steps, so they feel supported and empowered from the very beginning.
Samantha hopes clients feel genuinely seen, heard, and safe when working with her. She wants them to feel a sense of trust and calm, knowing that they can explore difficult emotions without judgment. She also hopes they leave sessions feeling empowered, validated, and equipped with practical tools to navigate their challenges. Ultimately, she wants clients to feel they’re capable of growth, resilience, and meaningful change in their lives.
A message for those unsure about starting therapy:
Starting therapy can feel intimidating, but it’s a brave step toward understanding yourself and finding support. You don’t have to have all the answers or be “ready”—therapy is a safe space to explore your thoughts, emotions, and experiences at your own pace. Even small steps can lead to meaningful insight, growth, and relief, and you don’t have to navigate life’s challenges alone.
